When using elastic putties, you must prevent it
from adhering on three sides. If this occurs, the deformation capacity
is reduced considerably and the cohesion of the sealant is broken,
leading to a non-waterproof joint.
To apply a sealant:
1. The surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
2. The application temperature is between +5 and +40º C.
3. Prepare the joint.
•
Apply a primer, if necessary.
•
Fill the joint, depending on its depth, with a cellular cord or polythene
or
polyurethane foam.
•
Apply protective adhesive strips to the sides of the joint for a
better finish.
4. Apply the sealant with a gun.
5. Smooth down the joint with an implement wet with soap and water.
6. Finish with touch-ups and, finally, remove the protective strips
prior to curing the sealant. |
